Little Sliceroni

1981’s Little Sliceroni follows Joey, an 11 year-old pizzeria owner who takes over after his parents are taken hostage in Iran. What was sold as a quirky light-hearted sitcom was a fiery indictment of then President Carter’s handling of the Iran hostage crisis and his presidency in general. Locals would come in for a slice, interact with Joey for a moment before the child returned to the kitchen and the customers would just condemn Carter and the Democrats.

4 episodes in the hostage crisis ended and the show was swiftly cancelled.
